The Scissor Theory

I was reading Mere Christianity today and spending time in Gods word when something popped into my head; it was a question from Ravi Zacharias: "where does the sovereignty of God end and the responsibility of man begin"?

C.S Lewis talks about faith and morals in the household and how talking about one over the other is almost as pointless as asking which blade on a pair of scissors is more vital.

To a certain degree, I believe this is a similar example of the sovereignty of God and the responsibility of man.

The scriptures say "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling (responsibility of man), for it is God who works in you (sovereignty of God)"; does this not illustrate an image of two blades working together in harmony with each other? I found this interesting and came to this revelation: when we understand we're allowing God to use us to do His work, we're using our gifts responsibly.

Today, I also found out that I want to be a pair of scissors when I grow up.
